Collectively Negotiated Agreements
Personnel whose titles are exclusively represented by a bargaining unit (union), are subject to the terms and conditions set forth in a collectively negotiated agreement. In addition to the CNA, those employees may also be subject to locally negotiated procedures as well as any successor memorandum of agreement.
- The New Jersey Employer-Employee Relations Act governs the enforcement of the rights and duties of the employer and employees as well as sets the scope of negotiations between the parties.
- The Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) administers the New Jersey Employer-Employee Relations Act and oversees the collective bargaining process and administration. PERC is the judiciary body that adjudicates employer-employee claims.

- The Montclair State University Police Department has approximately 36 sworn law enforcement officers. The UPD is charged with ensuring public safety and with the enforcement of all state and local laws as well as university rules and regulations.
